The true story of Dr William Palmer, the ‘Prince of Poisoners’, and his dramatic trial in 1855. He was convicted of murdering his best friend, but suspected of poisoning a dozen other people, including his wife, children, brother and mother-in-law. He cashed on their life insurance to fund his gambling habit.
We designed and illustrated the book jacket. We took our cues from Victorian typography, medical drawings and apothecary bottles to concoct a striking design. A murky poison pool of questionable colour gathers around the base of the skull, and this has been treated with a spot varnish.
